AGMG 1444 AGRICULTURE RECORDS
- COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Basic records needed for management and income tax
reports, records of income tax reports, records of income and expense, inventories,
net worth statements, budgets, production records, sources of credit, cash
flow, break evens on livestock operations. Developing and maintaining good
relations with financial institutions.
In a course of this nature it is imperative that
the student have an agricultural background. They must make arrangements for a
personal interview with the director or assistant director of the program. The
interview must be requested and completed between January 15 and May 1 for
the class starting the following fall semester.
- COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Emphasize the importance of records to any
livestock operation. Knowing and working with financial institutions in order
to obtain credit.
- Sources of credit:
major federal loans, major private loans, problems concerning loans or
credits, general definitions of credit terms, building strong relations
with lending institutions, and the cost of credit.
- Using arithmetic:
pasture cattle, feedlot cattle, fee cost, using percentages, break-even
cost of cattle, the cost of shrinkage in beef
- Production Records:
main items, specific methods, yield, grazing crop production estimation,
livestock production records.
- Ranch Records and
Accounts: records of receipt and expense, assets and liabilities,
inventory, net worth statement, analyzing, budgets, net income and return
- Accounts and records:
purpose of accurate records, types of accounts, organizing account
- Depreciation for tax purposes:
types used, declining balance, sum of the year by digit.
- Comments on and
explanation of the topic under consideration.
- Exploring all aspects
pertaining to economics and practicality.
- Visiting several ranches
and feed yards within a 200 mile radius of Clarendon, Texas to study
different herds and how they are managed.
- Visiting major packing
plants in the area to study the processing of our products.
- Guest speakers from
the Beef Industry pertaining to all aspects listed in the Course
- Visiting financial
institutions in the area.
- Individual guidance on
